The club will be paying tribute to Teesside broadcasting legend Alastair Brownlee at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday February 23.
Ali, the BBC Tees commentator and presenter who was the voice of the Boro for many after spending over 30 years in the commentary box, sadly passed away on Sunday evening after a battle with cancer.
There will be a big screen tribute to Ali ahead of the game against Cardiff, featuring some of his finest moments, and that will be followed by a minute’s applause.
Fans are also encouraged to join in with a further applause on 56 minutes as a mark of respect for Ali, who passed away at the age of 56.
In addition, the Red Faction have planned a special tribute of their own in the South Stand, including a banner display and a surfer.
The Ayresome Gates are currently bedecked in scarves, shirts, and flowers and fans wanting to pay their respects ahead of the Cardiff game are advised to arrive early.
The club will also have a commemorative matchday programme cover. The club would like to thank our fans for the many suggestions being made regarding possible lasting tributes to Ali and these will be taken into consideration in due course.
