Scheduled Maintenance of Tyne Tunnels for the next four weeks

The northbound tunnel will be undergoing some scheduled maintenance refurbishments and structural inspections as of Wednesday 6th June 2018 for 4 weeks. We aim to keep disruption to commuters to a minimum; therefore works will be completed during night shift lane closures when traffic volume is lowest. Wednesdays and Thursdays one lane northbound will be closed from 22:00 – 06:00. During Fridays and Saturdays 20:00 – 08:00 and Sundays 20:00-06:00 the northbound tunnel will be closed and southbound tunnel will operate bidirectional for all traffic.
