FOOD fans who are missing their favourite dishes from STACK Newcastle can now enjoy the Stack experience – from the comfort of their living room.
The favourite city centre destination is home to a whole host of street food vendors which have been closed since lockdown began. But now a number of outlets are re-opening their doors and offering both a takeaway and delivery service, giving anyone suffering withdrawal symptoms the opportunity to enjoy their much-loved dishes.
Among those now offering these options are Sushi Me Rolling, Korean Poke bowl seller STIX, and Hatch 76, renowned for its crispy duck topped fries and wraps.
Chicken Tikka nan wraps can be ordered from Hullabaloo and Thai classics are on the menu at Thai-li-cious. Texas Smoker will also be offering its range of ‘fancy fries’ and ‘nasty nachos’ along with its signature square burgers and slow cooked beef brisket from the pit.
And it’s not just food operators which are very much back in business, with House of Botanics setting up a plant delivery service, while bubble tea care packages can also be ordered from Manhua Cha, providing you everything you need to make your own bubble tea at home.
Alex Hindson owner/operator of Hatch 76 – which is also is a regular at festivals and events throughout the region – said he had “been left with no choice but to adapt our businesses to reflect the current social distancing measures that are preventing the public from being able to come out an socialise at Stack.”
“We still want to do what we are passionate about and that’s serving tasty street food,” said Alex.
“By offering a delivery and collection service we can continue to give our regular customers their favourite dishes and hopefully reach a wider market of people who might be keen to try something new after weeks in lock down.”
Neill Winch, Group Chief Executive of the Danieli Group, owners of Stack, praised their operators for showing a huge amount of initiative. “This is a tough time for everyone in the food and drinks industry with so much uncertainty ahead, however it is great to see the independent businesses in Stack adapt and remodel their business to continue to provide tasty street food safely to their customers,” he said.
We hope that our customers will continue to support our local independent traders until it is safe for STACK to reopen.”
Would-be diners can access the outlets in a variety of ways, with Sushi Me Rolling offering their sushi platters both for collection or to be ordered – with delivery slots made available at 10am each day via their Instagram story.
