Stockton rainbow celebrates LGBT history

THE colours of the rainbow shone throughout Stockton Town Centre this weekend to celebrate LGBT History month.

The lights on the High Street and outside the town hall as well as those along the Riverside from the Princess of Wales Bridge to the Millennium Bridge turned multi-coloured after dark on Saturday and Sunday.

Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Councillor Bob Cook, said: “The Riverside and High Street looked spectacular and the multi-coloured lighting was a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate the diversity of our communities.”

LGBT History Month is a month-long annual observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements.

It celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, lives and culture, and recognises the significant contribution LGBT people have made to communities.
