Succession of appointments and promotions signals growth for Teesside accountants

A North East accountancy practice has strengthened its team through a succession of appointments and internal promotions.

Wynyard-based Baldwins, has taken on three new starters, as well as promoting four established members of staff within its award-winning team.

All hailing from the North East, Jamie Cuthbert, Sunny Singh and Stephanie Bagley have joined the Company’s Accounts and Audit department, following a rise in demand for its services from its clients across the region.

Having started his career at Ernst and Young, Sunny is looking forward to facing new challenges and using his expertise to help Baldwins progress.

He said: “As Baldwins is one of the fastest growing accountancy practice in the UK, this is a great opportunity to join a team allowing me to have a long-term career and develop within a firm which is constantly evolving.”

Jamie is also looking forward to the challenges working for a national firm will bring.

“It’s exciting to be working for a large firm with good opportunities to further my career,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to new learning opportunities, working with larger clients and gaining more experience in all aspects of accountancy.”

Having worked in several of the region’s top accountancy firms, Stephanie plans to expand on her existing knowledge and is looking forward to working with a variety of clients.

She said: “I am delighted to have joined a continuously expanding firm, as it provides exciting opportunities, as well as the chance to work with a wide range of clients.”

The addition of the trio of employees, takes the total number of new starters for 2017 to seven, in as many months, and the total number of staff employed at the Wynyard office to 70.

Speaking about the latest appointments, North East board member and director, Martin Barber, said: “We are constantly on the lookout for great talent to add to our experienced team. Jamie, Sunny and Stephanie bring experience and enthusiasm to the Company and are talented, ambitious individuals.

“As well as recruiting new talent, we also pride ourselves on developing and growing current employees, which is why I’m delighted with the amount of promotions we’re currently experiencing within the Company.

With a combined total of 26 years’ accountancy experience at Baldwins, Jenny Hannah, Jessica Smith, Matt Waters and Jonny Vaughan have been rewarded for their outstanding work and commitment with promotions to managerial status.

Jenny, whose new role as Accounts and Audit Manager will entail developing younger team members and growing the cloud accounting service, is delighted to be playing a part in the Company’s ambitious growth plans.

“It is an exciting time to be part of Baldwins and my promotion has proven there are great career progression opportunities within the company,” she said.

Jessica and Jonny will be working alongside Jenny as Accounts and Audit Managers and are looking forward to nurturing the younger Baldwins’ talent.

“I’m keen to help develop the junior team and enhance my business relationship with clients,” said Jessica.

Jonny added: “I’m really looking forward to the training aspect of my role, passing on knowledge and experience to the team.”

As a Corporate Finance Assistant Manager, Matt’s promotion will allow him a more active role in the transaction services offered by Baldwins, as well as increased responsibility overall in the department.

“I’m looking forward to taking a leading role in more complex transactions,” said Matt.

Continuing with its expansion plans, three apprentices have also joined the office, Bethan Close in Accounts and Audit, Kieran Clark in Tax and Kirstie Hackman in the Payroll department.
