Sustainable French Fashion Brand Gaâla Launches SS21 Collection

Gaâla SS21

Founded by husband-and-wife duo, Kelly de Gaâlon and Alexander Zhalezka, Gaâla is the meeting of two worlds – classic French aesthetic combined with the finest Belarusian craftsmanship. The new range for the Spring/Summer season provides timeless pieces for every occasion, featuring elegant eveningwear, refined tailoring and versatile outwear, perfectly easy to style and wear all year round.  Whilst reintroducing some of the brand’s bestselling dresses in new colourways, like the Monroe and the Agnes, this collection offers a number of new wearable and sophisticated styles, giving the ultimate go-to springtime wardrobe for professional and everyday wear alike.

Each collection from Gaâla is designed to provide designs which transcend time and items which never need to be replaced, as a brand which prioritises sustainability. Looking to make as small a footprint as possible, all fabric used comes from a handpicked variety of luxury leftover material from Italian fashion houses and procured deadstock linen in Belarus, creating only mindfully crafted pieces.

‘Our hope is that you breathe life into our designs, making them your own, and that you wear them with the same love and integrity that went into their creation.’ – Kelly de Gaâlon

Sustainability and Upcycling

Knowing and understanding the impact our actions have on the planet have led Gaâla to mindfully craft designs using luxurious excess production materials, deadstock fabrics, and other low impact natural textiles.

At Gaâla they personally handpick a variety of cotton, viscose, silk and wool fabrics leftover by Italian fashion houses and procure deadstock linen in Belarus, where linen has been the primary fabric for centuries. Gaâla source some of the world’s finest silks from surplus stock.

Gaâla’s mantra and firm belief is: “Create for the needs of today while enabling the needs of future generations.” The brand are constantly adapting their way work in order to become more sustainable within the circular economy.

Because of the limited nature of deadstock material, Gaâla’s quantities are uniquely limited. Gaâla sometimes produces as few as 2 or 3 pieces in one fabric. Looking to make as small a footprint as possible, the brand has chosen to use fabric remnants which would in most cases be tossed into landfills, and repurpose them for their collections.

Craftsmanship

Each piece is created in a small-scale workshop in Belarus where Gaâla provide a safe and ethical work environment with above average wages for each member of the team.

Gaâla work alongside highly experienced tailors whose passion for their craft is truly reflected in the quality of their work.
