Test your Knowledge at the Glendale Agricultural Society’s Quiz Night

CaptureIt’s time for all local quizzers to start brushing up on their general knowledge ready for the Glendale Agricultural Society’s (GAS) annual quiz night.  Being sponsored by H&H Insurance Brokers, this annual event is always extremely well supported with up to 20 teams of four people, battling their wits against one another.

Open to teams of 4 who must book their places in advance, the quiz will be held at the Tankerville Arms in Wooler on Tuesday 23rdFebruary.   Tickets are priced £8.00 and include fuel for thought with a pie and pea supper, which will be served prior to the quiz at 7pm.

Hosted once again by the familiar face of quiz master Ronald Barber, there will be a range of general knowledge questions including a picture round, geography, history and music round.  There will also be the all-important tie breaker question in the event of a draw, and for those on the losing team, they can stir things up with a wooden spoon.

Part of the full and varied programme of events organised by the Glendale Agricultural Society, the quiz is a highlight of the year as Rachael Tait, Secretary of the Glendale Agricultural Society says here:  “We had a great night at last year’s quiz, with the winning team the Amnesiacs combining their brain power to bag the winning prize of four passes for a day at Kelso races.

“The quiz is open to both members and non-members and everyone can be sure of a really fun and entertaining evening.  It is sure to challenge your knowledge and it always brings out the competitive side in everyone. “

Rachael goes on to say: “This is always a sell-out event so I would encourage people to enter their teams as soon as possible and get their thinking caps on.”

One of the key aims of the Glendale Agricultural Show is to share knowledge and promote farming and agriculture throughout the Glendale area and further afield.  The largest event of the GAS, the Glendale Show, which takes place each August Bank Holiday helps to raise awareness of rural life, showcasing livestock, producers and craftspeople.  The Children’s Countryside Day, which is organised by the society, firmly focuses on the education of children throughout the region.
