Teesside Lions Basketball Club provide an excellent all round experience at their home arena within the Eston Leisure Centre in Middlesbrough and the cherry on the cake is their newly refurbished cafe/bar which serves spectators at their 1,200 capacity venue.
The successful venture is a collaborative partnership between the Lions and Cafe Lush, a business based at Belasis Park Business Centre in Billingham.
At Lions recent event more than 150 burgers & hot dogs were served in addition to the popular Nachos and other snacks and club director Martin Anderson is keen to ensure the fans not only enjoy the event but also the food & beverage experience.
“We want to ensure when a fan attends our basketball events, they enjoy every aspect of the experience. Part of this is ensuring we provide good quality food in a positive portion for a good value for money price.
“The feedback at our two test events has been very positive and we are very pleased with the results.
“This is a great example of how businesses can work together to achieve mutually beneficial goals. Louisa and Sharon from Cafe Lush are experts in the catering field and we are looking forward to serving great food to many people over the coming season.”
In addition to food and beverages, the club are planning to also serve alcohol. Lions merchandise, including Lions Foam Paws at just £4 are also available on game days.
Louisa Smithson, from Billingham and part owner of Lush Cafe said: “We have caught the basketball bug and not only enjoy the partnership we have formed, but also enjoy supporting the team. The club have developed in a big way recently and we are proud to be associated with such a positive and exciting project.”
