Anna and SueThanks to the continued success of the ‘Thirsty Thursday’ networking event in Stokesley, organisers have announced plans for their third event which will this time raise funds for local causes.

And dates are also scheduled for events later in the year.

Since launching last November, over 60 businesses have taken part in the informal event, held at The Mill on Springfield in Stokesley, and are now starting to reap the results of meeting likeminded individuals.

Thanks to the demand, Thirsty Thursday will now become a regular event for businesses and individuals in Stokesley and the surrounding areas.

The next event will take place on Thursday 12th March at The Mill, where there will be a chance to win a meal for four at a local restaurant with all funds raised going to support a local good cause.

The aim of the informal get-together is to allow businesses to meet after work, between 5pm and 7pm, and talk about new projects, events and opportunities.

Further events are planned for May 14th and June 25th.

Stokesley businesswomen Anna Addison, who runs PR company Anna Addison Associates, and Sue Thompson, who runs design company Catch Design Management, came up with the idea for Thirsty Thursday after meeting through Superfast North Yorkshire when they recognised the need for an informal networking event for people living and working in Stokesley and the surrounding towns and villages.

Anna said: “We’re really pleased that there has been so much interest in Thirsty Thursday. It has revealed a plethora of interesting businesses- not just the obvious ones but everything from country clothing specialists to independent food producers supplying some big names. We now plan to step things up by enhancing what’s on offer at each event and raising some funds for the local community.””

Sue said: “What’s great about Thirsty Thursday is that it’s a networking event that really is working- businesses are starting to do work together and gain from it. In addition, it’s also good to be able to offer one another support, advice and useful contacts as our businesses grow together.”

The next Thirsty Thursday takes place on Thursday 12th March at The Mill on Springfield in Stokesley between 5 and 7pm. Businesses from around the Stokesley area are invited to attend.
