Younger visitors are being invited to get hands on to help run the Head of Steam – Darlington Railway Museum at a special Toddler Takeover Day.
On Friday 15 March toddlers, aged five or under, will be able to take over jobs at the museum in a fun-packed day of activities.
Jobs to choose from include a gallery attendant, a collections packer, a cleaner, create a display, issue tickets and secure the building.
The activities will be around the museum and are play and role-play based.
Sarah Gouldsbrough, learning and access officer at Head of Steam, said:
“We’re inviting our visitors and their little ones to ‘takeover’ and help with some of the day-to-day jobs around the museum.
“It will give them a chance to find out more about life in the museum and what it’s like to work here. Above all, the emphasis is on fun and we’re keen to share what we love about working here at Head of Steam.”
Sessions will be held 10-11.30am and 11-12.30pm, with a maximum of two children per adult. Places will be limited so need to be booked in advance by telephoning the museum or calling in.
The sessions are free to family annual pass holders or £2 per adult for non-members, while children aged five and under are free.
