Local Trust celebrates top three position for research.
Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW), a provider of mental health, learning disability and neurological care and support, and one of only two in the country to be rated as outstanding by the CQC, has come in the top three mental health Trusts for volume of research.
Published by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN), the research activity league table provides information of how much clinical research is taking place in your area. The league table of research activity, measured by numbers of large scale clinical research studies which actively recruit NHS participants, is a good guide to how research-active an NHS organisation is. NTW has been in the top four for mental health Trusts for the last four years since the league tables were first published with 50 research studies, up from 45 in the previous year.

“By taking part in research we are able to discover and develop new treatments, and make sure that our service users are able to access state of the art support.
“This excellent news from the new league table shows that NTW is moving firmly in the right direction, allowing us to offer the opportunity to participate in important clinical research trials to a greater proportion of service users.”
