Truss was born on July 26, 1975, in Oxford, England. She attended a state comprehensive school and later studied philosophy, politics, and economics at the University of Oxford. Truss began her career working in various roles in the private sector before entering politics. In 2007, she joined the Conservative Party and ran for parliament in the 2010 general election, where she was elected as the MP for South West Norfolk.
