With just days to go until the festival’s crowdfunding campaign closes on 31st October, which is currently at 80% of their target, it’s make or break for Northumberland’s Lindisfarne Festival. Hoping to return to Beal Farm from 3 rd – 6 th September 2020 for its sixth annual festival, organisers are making one last plea for the region to pledge their support and stop the festival from suffering the same ill fate that many others have experienced in recent years.
Despite a hugely successful 2019 event, which resulted in two UK Festival Award nominations, organisers of the independent North East festival firmly stated that the 3 day music, arts & camping event would only be guaranteed to return again in 2020 if £85k could be raised via early ticket sales to relieve the stress of covering upfront event costs.
Offering festival-goers the benefit of discounted early bird tickets and exclusive reward packages, the 1 month Crowdfunder campaign, which ends at 10pm on Thursday, was launched on 1 st October to help secure the future of the independent North East festival.
Conleth Maenpaa, Founder of Lindisfarne Festival commented:
“We’re so grateful to everyone who has supported Lindisfarne Festival since it began in 2015 and it’s been great to see so many people pledging their support on Crowdfunder this month. Trying to create and sustain a festival like this in the North East has been an incredibly tough task but we’ve somehow managed to pull off five incredible events so far. As a self-funded, independent festival, crowdfunding helps us to ensure we have the finances to cover the upfront costs for next year and help continue to move the festival forward in 2020.
With just 3 days to go, we’re currently at around 80% of our target so there’s still a good chunk to go but we know many people have been waiting around for payday, so we’re hopeful we can still get where we need to be. We’re extremely nervous but with plans for next year’s festival already formulating behind the scenes, we’re excited and raring to go! If we don’t reach the Crowdfunder target though, we’ll have to slam on the brakes while we explore other funding options, which means there’s no guarantees we’ll be able to make the festival happen next year, so we need everyone to get behind us.”
Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the coast overlooking Holy Island, the 3- day camping festival sees over 200 local & world -renowned DJs, bands, comedians and artists perform across 10 unique marquee venues. Past headliners include Ocean Colour Scene, Peter Doherty, The Levellers, Happy Mondays and The Fratellis to name a few. With partners such as BBC Music Introducing and Musicians Against Homelessness, the festival also provides a great platform for up and coming musicians.
“Each year we have seen the festival develop and evolve and this year’s event was nothing short of incredible! It was everything we wanted it to be and provided great opportunities to local traders and performers as well as raising money for some great causes, such as homeless charity Crisis – who we hope we can continue to support in future years.
We’ve got a very small but relentless team, who have poured their hearts and souls as well as personal time and money into the festival over the last couple of years and we’re not going to give up on our dream without a fight. We’re definitely not quitters, but we have sacrificed a lot to get this far and there comes a point when we have to lay it all on the line and openly ask for support so that we can continue to put on an event that we’ve all come to love”
The festival is also offering a range of sponsorship opportunities for local businesses who if interested should contact Conleth Maenpaa on firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
