Equality North East, the regional organisation for promoting equality, has announced the finalists in all ten categories of the 2015 North East Equality Awards.
The finalists were chosen from a wide range of public, private and voluntary sector organisations shortlisted for their efforts in promoting equality and diversity in the workplace.
The Awards have become a significant fixture on the North East business calendar, highlighting and celebrating the good equality practice being carried out regionally.
Now into its 12th year the Awards celebration will be held at the Gosforth Park Marriott Hotel, Thursday 29th October. Winners and finalists will come together to celebrate the outstanding work they are doing in the field of equality and diversity.
This year’s awards are being run in partnership with Gateshead College. Judith Doyle, principal and CEO said: “Gateshead College is proud to be part of an initiative which rewards fairness and equality in the workplace. All of the finalists have shown great effort and a genuine commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace. The businesses involved are creating tangible benefits for employees and the wider community as well as supporting a positive working environment in the North East.”
Andrea Johnson, head of operations of Equality North East, the regional equality organisation behind the Awards, said: ‘The amount of entrants and support this year shows the fantastic equality and diversity work happening not only in the public sector, where it is expected, but also the voluntary and particularly the private sector. Even in this time of uncertainty it is heartening to see so many fantastic initiatives. We must also say a huge thank you to our sponsors who were instrumental in the shortlisting, a challenging but rewarding role due to those fantastic initiatives and also helping to make the Awards possible.’
