A SOULFUL singer-songwriter is proving that Dreams are never Out of Reach at an open-air show at South Shields this weekend.
Multi-platinum artist Gabrielle will close the Sunday concert series at Bents Park on 4 August, as part of the South Tyneside Festival, organised by South Tyneside Council.
And the singer will also be joined on the bill by South Shields-born musician Lee Gray, up-and-coming singer Chloe Rose, and popular funk and soul band, Groovetrain.
Gabrielle rose to fame in 1993 when her first single Dreams entered the charts at number two, breaking the record for the highest chart debut from a solo female singer in the UK and later taking the coveted number one spot.
The star has sold more than five million albums since then and enjoyed a string of chart successes in a career spanning more than 25 years, most recently celebrating a top ten album with her 2018 release, Under My Skin.
She will be supported by musician, Lee Gray, who was well-known as one half of the popular duo Woodface, before moving to New Zealand in 2011 and going on to perform at festivals across New Zealand, even writing and performing the opening song at the FIFA Under 20s World Cup in 2015.
Rising star Chloe Rose is a late addition to the line-up, who has built more than 3.8 million followers across various social media platforms and performed at venues around the UK.
And 7-piece funk and soul group Groovetrain will also be entertaining the crowd on Sunday, with a selection of their own music, along with covers from a wide range of artists.
Councillor Alan Kerr, Lead Member for Culture and Leisure at South Tyneside Council, believes it will be a fantastic afternoon of entertainment for all ages to enjoy.
“We have had some amazing performers in the park this summer and the line-up this week is a great one to close the series,” said Cllr Kerr.
“It is a brilliant opportunity to see big names, local talent and rising stars all on one stage and, if the other three concerts are anything to go by, then everyone heading out this weekend will have an incredible time.”
The festival is supported by BBC Newcastle 95.4FM and sponsored by Port of Tyne, Colmans Seafood Temple, South Tyneside College and The Sea Hotel.
Doors are expected to open at 12pm for Priority Plus ticket holders and 12:45pm for general admission, which is free.
