Parkway Shopping Centre is getting into the competitive spirit this month, but its all in a good cause.
The Coulby Newham shopping centre is holding an ‘It’s a knockout style’ competition, as part of the One Great Day charitable initiative. Teams will be made up from retailers, security team, housekeepers and suppliers, raising money for both local charity Remembering Rebecca and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The event which takes place on Sunday 8th July 2018 , will see four teams compete in events such as tug-of-war, sumo wrestling and a sack race. But its not just their physical prowess that will be tested. Teams will also have to show their skill and creativity in a cake baking and decorating contest.
Tenants taking part include; VIP, CH Watch Repair, Bella Bambini, Top Gift and the Rainbow Centre.
Zoe France, Centre Manager explains: “The One Great Day event is something we do each year, but this time we wanted to include as many people as possible. The response has been amazing and shows the generosity of those working at the shopping centre”.
Along with the days fundraising events, there are several other activities that are taking place at the same time.
Zoe continues: “Thanks to Churchills our soft services supplier, our security and housekeeping team are playing a large part in raising much needed funds. Four members of the security team will be doing a sponsored 30-mile bike ride from Whitby back to The Parkway, whilst the housekeeping team will be wearing fancy dress as they keep the centre clean and tidy”.
Points will be awarded to teams on the day, for the various competitions taking place. With the team which has the most points, being crowned the winner and receiving a trophy.
A separate trophy will also be awarded for the team which manages to raise the most money.
Collection tins will be located around the shopping centre for to those shoppers who wish to donate on the day.
