North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children partners involved in the establishment of the Multi Agency Screening Team have picked up another award for the outstanding partnership working between the county council, the police and health services in the safeguarding of vulnerable children and their families.
The multi-agency relationships supported through the North Yorkshire Local Safeguarding Children Board arrangements have led to innovative practice developments.
The County Council’s multi-agency screening team (MAST) brings together staff from the council’s children’s social care and prevention services, North Yorkshire Police and health colleagues from Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
The MAST team has now been given the accolade for Outstanding Partnership Working in the Harrogate Trust Celebrating Success Awards. The MAST also won the Local Government Chronicle partnership award in March.
The Trust’s award citation said: “This award recognises a really positive partnership between North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire County Council and our Trust. The partnership team is working to share intelligence and provide early interventions which put children and young people at the centre of decision-making.’’
The County Council’s outgoing Corporate Director of the Children and Young People’s Service, Pete Dwyer, said: “Making sure that, across all organisations, we work well to get children and young people the right help from the right people is crucial. We are delighted that our progress in delivering this has again been recognised.”
The County Council Executive Member for Children’s Services, Councillor Janet Sanderson, said: “This award again shows we are dealing with challenges head-on with ambitious and effective solutions on behalf of our residents. We are proud of both staff and partners and their commitment to finding innovative ways to support our most vulnerable residents.”
