Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Calling all Dad’s Army Fans

An audience with Ian Lavender is marching into Middlesbrough Theatre on Wednesday, September 28.

Ian shares with the writer and broadcaster Chris Serle a generous helping of his brilliantly funny anecdotes about the making of the series, at rehearsals, in the studio and on location with his fellow volunteer soldiers.

The evening includes some of the most memorable clips from the 80 broadcast episodes.

Dad’s Army is one of the top TV comedy shows of all times delighting audiences of 18 million between 1968 and 1977.

The exploits of the hapless Captain Mainwaring and his inept Home Guard Platoon are still shown all over the world, including the recent Dad’s Army feature film.

Ian Lavender starred in the original Dad’s Army as Private Pike…often seen wearing his scarf lovingly made by his mother to ‘protect him from the croup’.

Whenever Arthur Lowe’s Capt George Mainwaring found Private Pike wanting there was only ever one retort – “Stupid boy!”

But in the new Dad’s Army film Ian Lavender plays a Brigadier, and so finally gets to turn thetables on his former Home Guard commander in Walmington-on- Sea.

Don’t Tell Him, PIKE! Is on Wednesday, September 28 at 7.30pm and is a must see for any Dad’s Army Fan!
