A Thornaby-on-Tees service business and North East England Chamber of Commerce member with a 60-year history is celebrating substantial business growth with turnover doubling to £2m and 10 new jobs created.

The Ashbank Laundry Centre on Teesside Industrial Estate, has seen a substantial increase in demand for its services to provide linen for hotels, universities and spas as well as cleaning the overalls of many of the leading industries around the region and is now looking to expand further.

Stephen Gosnay, general manager, Ashbank Laundry Centre said: “We have a really strong set of clients here in the North East including Headlam Hall, Cordell and Harrison Packaging. Our plan for the next year is to build on this success and grow our workwear contract business.”

The business works closely with Durham University and recently won supplier of the year from this client, as a result of its work, where for the last eight years, it has looked after all the Colleges’ laundry requirements for conferences, weddings and formal dinners,.

Tom Warnock, relationship manager, the Chamber said: “Ashbank Laundry Centre are a real asset to our organisation and really champion the area as well as supporting other Chamber members.”

Stephen Gosnay said: “We have had great benefits from our membership.  It has helped us connect with new local businesses who are potential clients by providing data and great leads.  Through the Chamber we have also been able to meet like-mind companies who want to pull together to make the business community a success.”
