Award winning not-for-profit housing provider, Four Housing, has completed fifteen new affordable homes at Mary’s Place in Gateshead, as part of a £1.9 million development scheme.
The first tenants to move in are local couple, Michelle Gibson and Steven Graham and their 8 year-old son Joseph.
The houses are located on the former church site of Our Lady of Annunciation and comprise thirteen two-bedroom family properties and two three-bedroom family properties.
Excited to be moving her family into their new home, mum Michelle Gibson, said: “These are such nice houses. We’ve lived in Gateshead all our lives, our family and friends live around here so finding an affordable family home nearby was very important to us.
“My family and I feel very lucky to live here. Our home is beautiful, warm and cosy and our neighbours are really nice.”
Commenting on the completion of the new homes, Paul Tanney, chief executive at Four Housing, said: “This is a superb development designed to provide high quality and affordable family-friendly housing for local people.
“Our focus at Four Housing is to add value to the communities in which we operate and benefit the lives of those who live in them.”
Four Housing, based in Durham, delivered The Mary’s Place scheme in partnership with Tyne & Wear Homes and Able Construction Ltd following the success of a neighbouring development at Millway Place in Gateshead. There was a Home and Communities Agency grant attached to both schemes and the sites form part of the housing provider’s 2011/2015 Housing Programme, which saw the organisation complete a total of 129 new homes in the North East.
