Disabilty award for Table Tennis Coach

Matt Porter, who is the head coach at Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club was awarded the coach of the year honor at the 2018 North East Disability Awards held at Kingston Park Stadium in Newcastle.

Each year the North East County sport partnerships and a number of commercial partners, come together to deliver the North East Disability Sports Awards. The awards celebrate the fantastic achievements of athletes, coaches and clubs have made to disability sport across the region during the year, over 10 categories.

“I was speechless”, when the MC announced the winner was a coach from table tennis I couldn’t believe it” said Matthew “the category was the biggest category and the standard was so strong, Im still can’t believe it, I’m really honored.

Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club, runs regular disability events and runs all its sessions to be inclusive allowing people with disabilities to participate along side peers. The club currently has 3 players in the Para GB pathway.
