Sunderland City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture, Councillor John Kelly, said:” With school holidays coming up it is great to see a wide range of activities, for the young and young at heart, across the city. It is a fantastic time for everybody to make the most of the top class facilities we have in Sunderland.”

The city libraries will be holding fun family activities across the city during half-term holidays, all with a sporting theme. Events are suitable for all ages and all children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Create a miniature garden inspired by magical worlds including fairy dells, pirate dens or wizard castles. The event is free but donations are welcome.

Create your own incredible habitat hat inspired by forests, ponds or gardens, decorated with flowers, plants and animals. The event is free but donations are welcome.

The Monkwearmouth Station Museum garden volunteers tend the stationmaster’s garden, and they have won Britain in Bloom Community Garden awards for their outstanding efforts. This time they have set a challenge-can you find all the plants from the stationmaster’s garden which have been planted by mistake in the Museum?

Collect you free trail from museum reception and claim a prize sticker when completed.
