Alfa Romeo – along with sister brands Fiat, Jeep and Abarth – with the support of FCA Automotive Services and Leasys UK- has launched an initiative incorporating free-of-charge 12 month job loss protection into all new finance and contract hire agreements. This announcement follows a survey of 2,000 UK motorists, showing that approximately one in three motorists said they are interested in buying a new car but are concerned about job security.
The 12-month job loss protection aims to give customers the peace of mind that their monthly car repayments will be covered should they lose their job. The survey conducted found that 36 per cent stated they would consider buying a new car if the manufacturer covered finance payments as a result of them losing their job. The survey was commissioned by Alfa Romeo to understand UK motorists’ current thoughts on buying a new car and how they view their financial situation since the outbreak of Covid-19.
This unique protection, available in conjunction with selected finance products, not only covers involuntary job loss but goes one step further in covering customers who are unable to work due to sickness (see full T&Cs for details). The job loss protection can be activated during the 12 months from the date of the finance agreement, allowing customers to forgo up to seven months of payments.

The survey of 2,000 motorists found one in five had said the pandemic had so far stopped them buying a new or used car.
