A special showing of a film that shows the devastating impact the benefit system can have on the lives of people already struggling with poverty took place last month.

‘I Daniel blake’ was shown at Hambleton Forum and organised by Hambleton FoodShare – who provide emergency food parcels for those who would otherwise go hungry, with the help of the Forum staff.  The majority of the customers of the FoodShare experience many of the problems vividly illustrated in the film.

Speaking before the film, Michael Webster, chair of the trustees, paid tribute to the generous gifts of food and money from the community, together with the dedication of FoodShare volunteers. “It is because of this generosity and dedication that we are able to help people in such financial crisis that they cannot put food on the table. We are so grateful for this wonderful support.”

A collection on the night raised £836 for FoodShare.
