A north east project that helps people to get to grips with online technology is telling residents to ‘Learn my way’.
‘Time to get online’ hosts free training sessions for people who want to become more digitally included, and thanks to a £5,000 grant can now expand its course remint through the ‘Learn my way’ portal.
The new site offers a suite of interactive programs no matter what participants’ level of understanding of the internet.
From getting started with email, to using the internet and other online services, the resource also allows more competent users to take their learning a stage further with specific courses for everyday online situations.
The free available programs can benefit all aspects of life, and include ‘completing online forms’, ‘staying safe online’, ‘job hunting online’ and ‘making money work’.
Vickie Musgrove, Digital Inclusion Co-ordinator, said: “The world we live in today is becoming more and more placed within a digital platform, and we want to show people that the internet is not as daunting as it may first appear.
“While a range of free training events are available, the new ‘Learn my way’ scheme means that people can get involved and improve their digital skills at a time that suits their needs.”
