GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 2019 PRESENTS ‘CINERAMAGEDDON’ – THE POST-APOCALYPTIC CINEMA EVENT

‘CINERAMAGEDDON’ – THE POST-APOCALYPTIC CINEMA EVENT IS BACK FOR GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 2019

The unique five-day film festival within Glastonbury Festival is back for its second edition with world premieres, pre-release screenings and star-filled introductions.

Curator Julien Temple will treat the nocturnal audience seated in a post-apocalyptic drive-in auditorium, courtesy of artist Joe Rush, featuring seventy mutated vintage British and American cars, repurposed funfair rides and a Lear jet.

SELECTED HIGHLIGHTS:

IBIZA – THE SILENT MOVIE – WEDNESDAY 9.30PM – World Premiere

Julien Temple tells without words or narration, the extraordinary story of dance music’s influential, charismatic and spiritual island. The world premiere will be followed by Fatboy Slim silent disco balaric set. 

THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER – THURSDAY 9.45PM

Writer Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting, The Magnificent Eleven) introduces his favourite movie – Charles Laughton’s all-time classic Night of The Hunted. 

THE DEAD DON’T DIE – THURSDAY 2.30AM – Pre-Release Screening

Jim Jarmusch’s zombie comedy follows a small town’s police force as they combat a sudden zombie invasion starring Adam Driver, Bill Murray, Selena Gomez, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Austin Butler, RZA, Tilda Swinton, Tom Waits and Danny Glover.

Further highlights include Juno Temple introducing LA BELLE ET LA BÊTE, screenings of SHAFTBLADE RUNNER DIRECTORS’S CUTb2b with BLADE RUNNER 2049 and restored prints of CHEECH & CHONG UP IN SMOKE, WINGS OF DESIRE and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.

ARENA

CINERAMAGEDDON is a five day film festival within the festival, curated by director Julien Temple, a new kind of rock ‘n’ roll cinema attitude, outside and under the stars.

Rising out of the Arthurian mists of Avalon and the world famous Glastonbury mud, CINERAMAGEDDON is a unique post-apocalyptic and nocturnal ambience in which to watch an unforgettable program of films in ways never seen or dreamt of before.

Watch must see movies with legendary renegade movie guests stars in a unique sculpture field courtesy of artist Joe Rush featuring an auditorium of sixty mutated vintage American and British cars, repurposed funfair rides and a Lear jet.

Presented by event and film producer Stephen Malit, the 2000 capacity CINERAMAGEDDON will run from Wednesday night through to dawn on Monday – a midsummer movie explosion that will take the audience on a thrilling cinematic journey through the Glastonbury night and out the other side.

BLACK LAMP HUB

Alongside the nocturnal Cineramageddon arena, the Black Lamp Hub – a social space for filmmakers & fans – will present film screenings, workshops by The Engine Room and a new bar area.

Kicking off daily with our leisurely ‘Breakfast with Bertolucci’ film at noon, the music afternoon documentary slot will screen BROS: AFTER THE SCREAMING STOPS followed by a Q&A Matt Goss & Luke Goss from Bros, TALES FROM TIN PAN ALLEY and RUDEBOY – THE HISTORY OF TROJAN RECORDS with directors of both films in attendance for Q&A’s.
