Organisers have announced that up to 400 classic and exotic cars from around the world will be on display at this year’s Great North Classic Car Show on Saturday, July 6 2019.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s show is already gearing up to be bigger and better with more cars on display and, the introduction of the first ever Concours d’Elegance, an auction and gala dinner.
More than 700 tickets have already been snapped up by car enthusiasts, which will be held at The Black Horse in Beamish, County Durham and is organised in conjunction with Aston Workshop, Car Barn and Beamish Morgan.
The outdoor event from 11.00am–5.30pm, will be set in the picturesque Durham countryside featuring some of the world’s most beautiful cars including Aston Martin, McLaren, Lotus, Jaguar and Porsche.
The Concours d’Elegance will include six categories including Aston Martin, MK2 Jaguar, Morgan Cars, Pre and Post-World War Two cars and future classics and will be judged by experts from across the UK.
In addition to the car show and Concours d’Elegance competition, an auction featuring the sale of prestige, classic, collectors and high-performance motor cars will be held within the main building.
And, for all those petrolheads who are looking for more ‘va va voom’, the event concludes with entertainment in the form of a gala dinner in the famous Orchard Marquee featuring a charity auction, live music and a five-course meal, hosted by former Top Gear presenter and motoring journalist, Steve Berry. The gala dinner will be held 7.00pm-11.00pm and tickets are limited on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event is the brainchild of Aston Workshop’s Bob Fountain who said: “Last year was our first ever event and was a huge success. It has been a long-held ambition of mine to organise an event where families can come and enjoy a day out, with cars and entertainment and have some fun. We have listened to the feedback from last year which attracted 2,000 visitors on the day.
“We want this year to be even bigger and better and have increased the capacity attendance to 3,000 people. Not only that, we have 400 classic and performance cars on display, our first ever auction, the Concours d’Elegance competition and gala dinner. Also on display will be Aston Martin’s timeline featuring Astons from every era of production right up to the current year.
“The majority of the event will be held outdoors including a BBQ and bar area as well as indoor catering in the Black Horse Marquee plus other refreshments will be available on site. We’re expecting car enthusiasts from all over the country and I hope we can build on the success of last year’s event.”
This year’s chosen charity is JPC Community Farm near Stokesley who provide specialist care and independent supported living for adults with special and complex needs. A percentage of profits raised from the raffle and prizes at the gala dinner will be presented to the charity.
The charity is named after Paul and Julie Connaughton’s son, James Paul Connaughton aged 18, who suffers with a new diagnosis Pura Syndrome as well as hypotonia cerebral palsy. Julie said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as their charity this year. Aston Workshop are a wonderful team of experts with a big heart.”
