A North East firm which helps organisations dramatically reduce their energy usage is expanding after moving to Sunderland.
Ecusol helps clients change the way they manage, use, generate, store and purchase energy, minimising their energy cost, carbon footprint and making their businesses more sustainable.
After recently moving from Newcastle to significantly larger premises on Washington’s Tower Road, it is also branching out into product development and manufacturing.
The company is currently trialling a new energy monitoring system, developed with support from the University of Sunderland’s Automotive & Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP) facility.
With two other projects in the pipeline, it expects to create several skilled new jobs within the next two years as manufacturing of its new products begins.
As a Carbon Trust approved supplier, Ecusol can help clients obtain grants and financial support which enables them to install energy monitoring and control systems, convert to energy efficient LED lighting and generate energy on-site through the installation of PV solar panels.
Ecusol also specialises in energy storage systems, which allow organisations to store energy produced but not immediately consumed for use at a later time.
As director Dean Stennett explains, this part of the business is particularly thriving, given the considerable benefits it offers clients: “Our customers are saving tens of thousands of pounds annually, by using our green energy procurement services and our management, efficiency, generation and storage products.
Ecusol’s move to Sunderland has positioned the company close to Nissan and the surrounding cluster of firms in the automotive and manufacturing sector – a key market for the business. The relocation was supported by Sunderland City Council’s Business Investment Team.
