Harlands Accountants has expanded its office space at Groundwork NE & Cumbria’s The Greenhouse business centre in order to meet the needs of its growing client base.

After outgrowing its current space, the accountancy firm has moved into an additional unit at the eco-friendly business centre.

The expansion means that Harlands’ 22-strong team will now work across four units at the Annfield Plain site, which is owned and operated as a social enterprise by charity Groundwork NE & Cumbria, and provides high-quality meeting, conference and business units.

Harlands, which provides advisory, accountancy and tax services to businesses of all sizes, has expanded its presence and taken on four new members of staff following unprecedented growth in the number of organisations requesting its services. It has further plans to take on two additional members of staff in the coming months.

The firm currently works with 380 clients, which come from a range of sectors, including transport, medical supplies and construction.

Hilary Woolard, Centre Manager for The Greenhouse, said: “It’s fantastic that The Greenhouse has been able to support the growth ambitions of one of its tenants. The Centre is here to support small businesses in the region to be successful, so it’s especially pleasing to see Harlands flourishing and providing additional employment opportunities for local people.”

Phil Murray, Commercial Director at Harlands Accountants, said: “Thanks to the hard work of colleagues and a reputation for excellent work, our client base has grown beyond expectation during the last 12 months. To meet this growing demand for our services, we have had to take on additional staff and office space.

“Groundwork’s team at The Greenhouse have been fantastic during the move. From the initial enquiry, to costings and moving in, nothing has been too much trouble and they’re always happy to give us a helping hand.

“It’s an exciting time for the team at Harlands, and over the coming months we will be looking to take on two new members of staff to help maintain our momentum.”
