THE North East’s youngest executive met his new team and said hello to shoppers at a special half term event at intu Metrocentre.
Eight-year-old Mackenzie Toal, from Prudhoe, saw off competition from scores of youngsters to be appointed intu Metrocentre’s first ever Head of Fun.
And, yesterday, (Tuesday 26 May), he and his deputy, six-year-old Myah Rose Wilson, from Sunderland, carried out their first official engagement – joining the Metrognomes on stage for intu Metrocentre’s popular May Half Term show.
After taking part in a coconut shy competition, Mac and Myah chatted to shoppers about ways in which they can make a trip to the Gateshead shopping centre even more appealing for young visitors.
Among their new duties – which they will carry out in school holidays and half terms breaks – Mackenzie and Myah will give their opinion on all the centre’s children’s facilities and test new restaurants and leisure activities for child friendliness.
They will also get to meet Santa and his elves and test out all new toys sold in the centre – so they will be among the first in the region to find out all about new crazes and toy trends
In exchange for their hard work, Mackenzie and Myah will be paid handsomely in gift vouchers and toys.
