Historic County Durham venue prepares to host rising Nashville star

A County Durham venue is preparing for a taste of Nashville next month, when a renowned musician performs a one-off gig in the region.  Kyshona Armstrong will appear at the historic Manor House in Sedgefield on Saturday 17 June.  Armstrong will be joined by fellow singer songwriter Robert Lane for the show in the Grade II listed 18th century building’s Old Court Room. The show will be the only North East date in the duo’s joint tour.

Originally from South Carolina, Kyshona Armstrong has been resident in Nashville since 2014.  Her songwriting skills and powerful, emotional voice are demonstrated on her latest two albums ‘Go’ and ‘The Ride’. Armstrong was recently named one of the top five roots artists to watch by CMT Edge (country music television) and her songs have featured on a number of popular US television shows, including Criminal Minds.   She returns to the UK following a critically acclaimed sold-out tour with Sarah Darling and Jenn Bostic, as part of Nashville In the Round in September 2016.

The gig will be a return to his own roots for Birmingham based Robert Lane, whose maternal grandmother was from the village of Winston in County Durham, where she met Lane’s grandfather, who was serving in the Royal Air Force in the area during World War II.  Lane still has family nearby, in Darlington and Northallerton.  His EP Ends and Starts was released via Fish Records in March 2016 and the lead track, My Love’s In Deep, has been featured on several radio stations as well as Fatea Magazine’s summer showcase session, and has been recommended by Telegraph Music.

The event further cements the Manor House’s growing reputation as a prestigious events venue. After a change of ownership late in 2014, the building was refurbished and launched as a business centre, and also secured a licence to host events and marriages.  Over the past two and a half years, the Manor House has become a popular venue for a wide variety of events and has already hosted Sedgefield Rock and Blues Club and a fringe night during the annual Sedgefield Folk Festival.

Marie Walker, events manager for Manor House 1707 Ltd, comments:

“This promises to be an unforgettable evening of music in atmospheric and intimate surroundings.  Both Kyshona and Robert have built excellent reputations on the live music scene and it’s quite a coup for the Manor House to attract them here during their latest tour.  We’re looking forward to a packed house and a fantastic show.”

Tickets for Kyshona Armstrong and Robert Lane are priced at £11 per person (including the booking fee).  To book visit: www.wegottickets.com/event/391278
