Primary school children in Billingham have been supporting the local environment by encouraging birds into their school gardens with the help of housebuilder, David Wilson Homes.
- Pupils at Wolviston Primary School received a special activity pack from David Wilson Homes, containing all of the supplies needed for the children to make their own bird feeders. The pack also contained birdhouses for the school to install, along with RSPB information on how to spot the different species that may visit throughout the year, and how to look after them.
- The activity is inspired by the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch, which runs from the 27th to 29th January, and encourages both adults and children to help count local wildlife.
- The Grove offers a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes located in Wynyard, Billingham. The development is ideal for families looking for more space in a stunning, semi-rural setting.

Julie Whitehill, Assistant Head Teacher at Wolviston Primary School, commented: “We’d like to thank David Wilson Homes for putting together the activity packs for the classes. It’s really important for the children to learn about the impact that wildlife can have on the environment and how they can help to look after and protect it. The pupils had a lot of fun making their bird feeders and we’re excited to see what kind of birds they will be able to spot during the Big Garden Birdwatch and throughout the whole year.”
Tracy Clark-McCabe, Sales Manager at The Grove commented: “David Wilson Homes is committed to supporting the environment around the areas in which it builds, and has a lengthy, supporting relationship with the RSPB. The Big Garden Birdwatch is a great opportunity for us to help Wolviston Primary School educate the pupils on the importance of looking after our wildlife.”
