Local five star housebuilder, Barratt Homes North East, has acquired land for a new housing development on Norton Road in Stockton-on-Tees. The investment will see the housebuilder construct up to 300 new homes, supporting 1,000 jobs over the course of the build, with a combined direct and indirect investment of over £160 million. The local economy will further benefit from an additional £1.8 million per year in household spend.

  • The new development, which will be named Jubilee Gardens, is set in a location of great historical importance
  • It was once the site of the original wagon works to the world’s first passenger railway line from Stockton to Darlington, later to be used in WW2 for the manufacture of mosquito bombers
  • Once complete, the development will boast a range of homes in a variety of designs in Norton
  • As part of the build, Barratt Homes North East will also invest in services to benefit the local community as part of its Section 106 contributions

Neil Milburn, Development Director at Barratt Homes North East, commented:

“We are delighted to announce the acquisition of this land at a site with a truly unique history. The new development is set to make a large contribution to the local economy and will be a great addition to the area where the demand for housing is at an all-time high. We’re excited to see Jubilee Gardens taking shape over the coming months, and are looking forward to exploring further ways in which we can get involved with the local community.”
