A CELEBRATION which combines the very best of an iconic musical with the spectacular food and drink of the Mediterranean is heading back to a North East hotel this autumn.
Hardwick Hall Hotel at Sedgefield is channelling all things Abba at its Mamma Mia! Greek Fest, which will be held in the specially created taverna on Saturday 20 September.
The event, which runs from noon until 6pm, promises an afternoon filled with music, meze and Mediterranean magic and follows on from last year’s sell-out success.
Guests will be transported to the sun-soaked fictional Greek island of Kalokairi where they’ll join in the Greek style party, with performances by a cast of 20 singers, dancers and acrobats.
A Greek-inspired cocktail will be served on arrival, followed by a three course lunch and the spectacular show.
Ticket prices start at £40 per person for a Tavern Table, which includes the welcome drink, lunch and promotional drink offers.
Guests can also join a Stavros the Great VIP table at £75 per person – available in tables of 10 – which includes a mezze board as well as the three course lunch, five bottles of wine, two bottles of Prosecco and a shot of Limoncello per person.
And anyone who really wants to push the boat out can have a Donna’s Diva’s VVIP table – at £95 per person for a table of 10 – which includes all of the above as well as five bottles of Prosecco and prime seating.
Audience participation is encouraged, which can be everything from waving napkins in the air to joining in the dance routines.
Helen Attley, sales and event manager at Hardwick Hall said that the hotel had decided to bring the event back because of its popularity first time round.
“Everyone loves Abba and Mamma Mia which is why it was a sell out when we held this event last year,” she said.
“This time round it’s bigger and better than ever before with a whole new twist on the performances and it’s a fantastic day out for friends, family or work colleagues – or just any group of people who just want to have a good time.”
