  • Milltek’s latest exhaust system for the Honda Civic Type R FL5 gives the hot hatch its full voice – bold, balanced, and brilliantly engineered
  • Available in Race or Road+ configurations, with valved and non-valved options – tuned to deliver up to +8dB over stock systems
  • Manufactured from high-grade T304L stainless steel at Milltek’s Derby HQ, with a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser

The Honda Civic Type R has never been shy – but with Milltek Sport’s latest exhaust system for the FL5-generation Civic Type R, the legendary hot hatch has found its true sound.

Described by Milltek’s Technical Operations Manager, Kev Hall, as the new system balances everyday usability with the unmistakable performance soundtrack Type R drivers crave.

“The FL5 is a driver’s hot hatch,” said Hall. “It’s not over-the-top loud, but it has a lovely tone that rewards every press of the throttle. Because there are so many options – pipe size, finish, and valving – it caters for every kind of Type R owner, from the purist to the enthusiast.”

Milltek is not just for road cars, it has a strong heritage in racing having sponsored the Civic Cup tintop series. It has built bespoke racing systems for the majority of competition cars.

Developed at Milltek’s state-of-the-art Derby facility, this new Honda Civic Type R FL5 exhaust system is designed to unlock more personality from Honda’s 2.0-litre turbocharged VTEC engine while maintaining full road legality.

The system and constructed entirely from T304L stainless steel, ensuring durability, performance, and an unmistakably Milltek sound.

Owners can choose between Race and Road+ with options for valved and non-valved systems, as well as the EC-approved system. They have distinct sound profiles that can be described as follows:

  • Race – the loudest, rawest, most aggressive tone for the track or thrill-seekers.
  • Road+ – a perfectly judged balance of volume, refinement, and driveability for everyday use.
  • EC approved – this, the newest version has a more conservative option but still wonderfully sonorous.

The EC-approved system, when paired with the OE valve control, offers a 12dB range between fully open and closed settings, with an 8dB increase over the OE exhaust when the valves are open.

“With the valves closed, it delivers a similar volume to the OE system, which is perfect for the morning commute,” added Hall. “But open them up, and the Type R transforms into something that feels straight out of the pit lane.”

Customers can choose between two tailpipe configurations:

  • A large centre pipe flanked by two smaller outers (mirroring the OE layout), or
  • Three equally sized tailpipes for a bolder, more assertive look.

Tailpipe finishes include Polished Stainless, Cerakote Black, Brushed Titanium, Burnt Titanium, and Carbon Fibre, all designed to complement the FL5’s rear styling.

This latest addition to the Milltek line-up continues the company’s long history of supporting Honda’s most iconic performance cars. The new FL5 joins systems developed for:

  • Type R EP3 (2001–2007)
  • Type R FN2 (2007–2012)
  • Type R FK2 (2015–2017)
  • Type R FK8 (2017–2022)
  • as well as beloved Honda icons like the S2000 and DC5 Integra
