A unique specialist sensory centre which provides a wonderful range of experiences for children and adults with learning disabilities has celebrated its first birthday.
Pendragon Multi-Sensory Centre in Northallerton provides support and rest-bite to the lives of those with physical, mental and emotional difficulties and their families. It is the only centre of its kind in the area and families travel from as far as Newcastle and Hull to take advantage of its sensory facilities.
“This is a momentous day in the history of Pendragon,” said David Kerfoot MBE DL, one of the Trustee’s for Pendragon, pictured cutting the birthday cake with centre manager, Julia Downes.
“We have achieved so much in our first year and it has shown that the facility and services we are offering are so much needed and appreciated by our community. The commitment and support from families, staff and volunteers has been incredible.”
The centre based at Unit 15, Omega Industrial Village, Thurston Road, Northallerton has changed its opening hours and added in extra sessions to allow more people to visit in the summer school holidays. Pendragon is also on the lookout for more volunteers to help whether it can be for a couple of hours or a full day
