The Oxnards, who recently moved into their new home at Story Homes’ North Tyneside development, Dove Park, have ended up living almost next door to the same neighbours they had at their previous home of 40 years.

Having spent four decades in their family home, Pauline and Richard Oxnard decided to make the move to a new-build Story Home in order to have more room for their children and grandson to stay.

The couple wanted to continue living near the coast in North Tyneside, so the award-winning house builder’s Dove Park development – located just a couple of miles away from their previous home – provided the perfect solution.

Pauline said: “Our daughters, Caroline and Louise, live in London and Milton Keynes respectively, and we now have a grandson, Ollie, too. We wanted a more spacious home so that the whole family could comfortably stay when they came up to visit us.

“We started looking around a number of developments in the area, but decided on Dove Park for its convenient location and after speaking to neighbours of ours who had just reserved a plot themselves.”

The Oxnards and their neighbours live in four-bed detached ‘Boston’ house types, and even chose the same designer kitchen.

Pauline continued: “It’s such a coincidence that we still live as close to our neighbours as we did when we lived in our last street, and it’s been lovely to have each other nearby to make us feel at home in our new community.”

Pauline and Richard cite the high quality finish of the bathrooms and kitchen, the useful utility room and integral single garage, and large garden as key benefits of their new home.

Pauline said: “We really like the amount of space the Boston offers, as well as the quality features it has. The size of the garden was a pleasant surprise – it gets a good amount of sun and it’s very flat, making it easy to maintain. We also love the bi-fold doors leading out to the garden from the kitchen.

“We’ve found that the high specification of Story Homes give them the edge over other new-builds we looked at. Our daughters have been impressed too, and they’ve really enjoyed their stays in our new home so far.”

Lyndsey Walton, Sales Manager at Story Homes, commented: “I’m delighted to hear that the Oxnards are enjoying all the features of their new home and the sense of community at Dove Park, thanks to their neighbours moving so close by. The development is nearly full now with most families having moved in and only two plots remaining for sale, so it has been great to see the development come to life and develop a real neighbourhood feel.”

Featuring seven house types, Dove Park is located next to North Tyneside Hospital and a few minutes away from the A19 and Coast Road. Homes are finished to Story Homes’ Prestige specification, which includes a five burner gas hob, double oven, extensive tiling in the bathroom and en-suite, bi-fold doors, turfed gardens to front and back, and large block paved driveways.
