Lifestyle salon and spa, House of Savannah, opened its doors at a highly-sought after location in Newcastle last month after moving to a larger property at 1 Old Eldon Square.
The urban retreat, which was founded in 2000 by Marc and Kay Cunningham, is spread across all four floors of the first plot in the iconic row of terraces which line the green.
The impressive 6,500sq ft outlet replaces House of Savannah’s previous site on Nelson Street and is a welcome development to the city centre’s retail scene.
Stephen Patterson, director of communications at the Business Improvement District for Newcastle City Centre, Newcastle NE1, said: “It’s fantastic to have House of Savannah not only grow its business in Newcastle but to become part of the changing Old Eldon Square landscape.
“It will provide a further boost to the leisure offering in the area around Grey’s Monument which has seen considerable investment recently, following the regeneration of Monument Mall and opening of new restaurants.”
House of Savannah boasts a L’Oréal-designed hair salon, a manicure and pedicure bar, spa relaxation lounge and boutique therapy loft rooms with views onto the square.
Owner Marc Cunningham said: “We’re really excited to be in our new premises right in the heart of the city, and especially one with so much history. The building was built in the 1820s so we were thrilled to bring its Georgian grandeur back to life.
“Besides a few offices, it had been left relatively empty for years, but we’ve got a highly-skilled team in place and incredibly loyal customer base so we’re confident that our ambitious move to take on the whole property – on a 20 year lease – will be a success.”
The spa and salon features exclusive ranges from Shu Uemura and Kérastase brands, alongside Aveda and Decléor products. It also offers a variety of luxury treatments from rituals and packages for friends, family and loved ones with champagne, to express brow and waxing services.
