Newcastle United Foundation has announced the appointment of Judith Doyle to its board of trustees.
Judith is principal and chief executive of Gateshead College and has both extensive experience of the FE sector and knowledge of the wider business community. She took over the running of the college in 2013 and under her stewardship it has flourished, receiving an “outstanding” rating from Ofsted and being named fourth best in the UK based on the success rates of its students.
Appointed to the North East Local Enterprise Partnership’s business growth board earlier this year, Judith is a member of the CBI’s regional council and a board member of Newcastle Gateshead Initiative and the Queen Elizabeth NHS trust.
Judith joins the foundation board as it embarks on a new and exciting chapter to build a state-of-the-art hub for sport, learning and wellbeing next to St James’ Park.
Commenting on her appointment, Judith Doyle said:
“I am thrilled to be playing a role in helping the foundation develop a dynamic learning hub that provides a wide range of sporting and education opportunities for young people. At Gateshead College, our goal is to equip people with the skills and attributes that benefit local businesses and lead to rewarding careers – and we’re delighted that the foundation shares this aim.
“I hope to use my experience of industry and FE to help the foundation fast-track the next generation of sporting and industry talent.”
John Marshall, chair of trustees, added:
“We are delighted that Judith has agreed to join our board. Judith’s expertise in education will be invaluable as we further develop our learning and skills programmes. Above all, she brings characteristic energy and enthusiasm to our growing board and we are excited about working with her.”
