North East engineering firm eyes continued growth as it marks 10 years in business

A Northumberland based engineering specialist is marking 10 years in business and the completion of hundreds of projects with plans for further growth.

RED Engineering, which provides consultancy, equipment and testing services to the energy industries, has seen its workforce expand to 24 people since being established in 2008.

Located in Hexham, and with a turnover of £3.5m, the firm has seen the completion of more than 300 contracts on the back of investing in highly skilled engineers and delivering tailor made solutions.

More than £25m worth of services and equipment has been supplied by RED Engineering in the last 10 years to support the delivery of challenging engineering projects.

Working closely with engineers from the likes of Sellafield, TechnipFMC, Baker Hughes GE, Subsea 7 and AVID Technology, the firm’s presence has grown among sector leaders who operate in some of the most challenging and harsh environments in the world.

Recent projects include the fast track development of first-of-kind equipment to allow the operation of the world’s deepest subsea production facility. Work on improving the efficiency of nuclear decommissioning activities and increasing operational safety around installing offshore wind turbines has also been completed.

RED Engineering’s ground-breaking approach to designing and delivering solutions to complex engineering challenges has been recognised at a national level, securing a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation – one of the highest honours that can be bestowed on a UK company.

Now, following key appointments earlier this year, the company is expecting further growth as it looks to take its services to new markets and clients, which includes building on recent gains in the nuclear decommissioning sector.

Joe Orrell, managing director, said: “Breaking into a completely new market has demonstrated that our brand of engineering excellence is a transferable skill and we look forward to further broadening our horizons in the future.”

Reflecting on the last 10 years, he added that the key to RED Engineering’s success has been the people.

“Our success has been down to the people involved. Without the clients, engineers, partners and suppliers, nothing would have happened and/or been possible. We are optimistic about the future, taking world class engineering skills to new markets, and very much look forward to another 10 years of success and achievement,” Joe Orrell said.

RED Engineering delivers engineering solutions for challenging installation, maintenance and decommissioning projects. Core expertise spans offshore operations and equipment, remote intervention and tooling and product development and testing. More at www.redengineers.co.uk
