‘Queen of Teen’ Literature Cathy Cassidy set to Captivate Stockton’s Youngsters

logo-landscapeSTOCKTON-on-Tees’ primary and secondary pupils are in for a treat next week as best-selling children’s author Cathy Cassidy hosts an author storytelling session in one of the Borough’s schools.

Around 300 young people from Years 5, 6, 7 and 8 will come together on Tuesday 26 April at Conyers School to listen to Cathy read from her eagerly anticipated new book ‘Broken Heart Club’.

The award winning Puffin author will also share stories of her early writing days and experience as a journalist working for bothJackie and Shout magazines. She will talk about her much loved ‘Chocolate Box Girls’ book series and will give tips on how pupils can get involved in writing for magazines and online publications.

Cathy’s talk will also include a question and answer section followed by a book signing session.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “This event is the latest in a series of fantastic author events organised by Stockton Borough Libraries. There’s nothing better than listening to an author read their own work so this should be an excellent opportunity for all the young people to meet an author in the flesh, ask questions and find out about a career in writing and journalism.”
