Rockliffe Hall’s Chief Executive, Eamonn Elliott, flew to Belfast especially to present a cheque for £6465, to lifelong friend, Anto Finnegan, for his Trust, deterMND.
The Trust was established on behalf of Anto, the former Antrim Gaelic football captain, after he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in August 2012.
The money was raised after Eamonn and two colleagues at Rockliffe Hall, Executive Chef of The Orangery, Richard Allen, and Sales and Marketing Manager, Katie Scott, took part in the Helvellyn Triathlon on September 3rd.
Additional funds were raised through a special charity golf day held at Rockliffe Hall on October 23rd. Anto was due to attend the event and receive the cheque but had to cancel his visit due to unforeseen circumstances, so Eamonn flew out to Belfast at the start of November to present the cheque to Anto.
deterMND aims to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease, and to raise funds for both the MND Association and MND research.
Anto said: “I’m delighted to receive this cheque from Rockliffe Hall and it’s fabulous that Eamonn was able to bring the cheque over to us personally. The money will be a great help to the deterMND Trust.”
Eamonn Elliott, Rockliffe Hall’s Chief Executive, says: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the amount of money we were able to raise for such a worthwhile cause. We were overwhelmed with the support we received for this fundraising initiative. On 18th October our fundraising page made the Top 10 of Just Giving’s crowd funding pages with a total of £1250 donations on that day. A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored the team and took part in the golf day.”
