ONE of the Tyne Valley’s most popular pubs is seeing red this month with a menu designed for romantics.
The Runhead Bar and Grill, Holborn Road, Ryton, is offering loved-up couples the chance to enjoy a special Valentine’s Day menu of dishes inspired by the colour of love.
Red snapper, redcurrants, red peppers, cherry tomatoes and strawberries all feature on the 14 February menu, with starters including roasted red pepper and tomato soup and cherry tomato and mozzarella bruschetta.
Main courses include cannon of lamb with a redcurrant jus and red snapper with chilli and mango salsa, followed by desserts such as chocolate and strawberry lasagne.
Diners can choose two courses for £15.95 or three for £19.95.
Meanwhile, diners at the coast can also enjoy a romantic treat, at the Runhead’s sister venue, the Sandpiper, at Cullercoats, also owned by Newcastle-based Malhotra Group plc.
Its three course Valentine’s menu, which costs £16.95, includes starters such as grilled goats’ cheese with beetroot and apple salad and a lovers’ cup of leek and potato soup.
Main courses range from confit shoulder of beef with green beans and celeriac, to pan-seared salmon on basil crushed potatoes, while desserts include strawberry Eton Mess and chocolate and Amaretto mousse.
