A North East town is set to take on Paris, London and Milan with its very own fashion show – and now organisers are searching for the next Kate Moss to star in it.
On Saturday 23 April, Darlington’s Grange Road will be turned into a 14m long catwalk as models parade the very latest spring/summer collections from the town’s high street and independent retailers.
The day-long event will be the first of its kind in the town and organiser, Distinct Darlington, is looking for a home grown talent to be the face of the show.
The company, which was formed to promote businesses and deliver a range of activities to benefit the town centre, is calling on anyone aged 16 or over who thinks they have what it takes to be a model to contact them no later than Friday 25 March.
No experience is necessary but, to be considered, entrants must be available on 23 April from 9am to 5pm and must be able to provide profile and full length photographs.
“We know Darlington is home to some great looking young people with a real love of fashion,” said Distinct Darlington manager Alex Hirst, “and whoever wins will have a wonderful day, sharing the catwalk with our models and experiencing the buzz backstage.
“Darlington has a superb reputation for fashion with an unparalleled mix of big, high street brands and independent boutiques and this event will really showcase what they have to offer.
“Throughout the day there will also be unique entertainment and plenty of chances for visitors to get involved.”
In the run up to the fashion show there will also be a programme of promotions and special events ran by shops, restaurants and hotels in the town centre.
Entrants must email two photographs – one profile and one full length – to admin@distinctdarlington.co.uk with their full name, age and contact telephone number by no later than 25 March.
