YOUNGSTERS will be able to find out about life through the ages with six weeks of summer fun in South Tyneside.
Throughout the school holidays, Bede’s World, Church Bank, Jarrow is holding week-long, themed events, each exploring a different aspect of life over the centuries.
Each day, young visitors will be able to take part in traditional crafts, such as stone carving and pole lathe turning work and become amateur archaeologists, excavating objects related to the theme.
From 27 July to 2 August, the topic will be Amazing Anglo-Saxon Animals, followed from 3 to 9 August, by Heat, Light & Sound.
The following week, from 10 to 16 August, visitors will learn about Fabulously Filthy Food and then the Grizzly Garments our ancestors wore will be examined from 17 to 23 August.
Marvellous Medieval Medicine will be put under the microscope from 24 to 30 August and the summer schedule will be rounded off with Brilliant Buildings, from 1 to 6 September.
There will be also daily salons, with talks on diverse subjects by guest speakers and community groups and sessions led by experts from Durham University and local re-enactment groups.
Activities take place between 11am and 3pm each day and further information is available by calling Bede’s World on 489 2106 or visiting www.bedesworld.co.uk
