Customers at two of Richmondshire District Council’s community offices are being urged to have a say on their future.
The authority wants to know which days and hours would best suit users in Reeth and Leyburn.
Faced with making efficiency savings councillors have already agreed that the level of service provided through the community offices must remain – but at a reduced level.
They recommended that the office in Leyburn reduce opening days from five to three and open between 9am and 4pm. And in Reeth the suggestion is to reduce from three days to one day a week.
However the final decision on opening times will go to the Corporate Board for a decision in September – and the views of customers will be taken into account when those decisions are made.
A survey to all customers kicks off at the end of this week (July 1) – asking which office is used and why, which days and hours are best; and what payment methods are preferred. The survey will close on August 22.
“Recent data shows that the number of people visiting the offices and calling the council by phone has reduced – people are instead opting to make contact electronically through the website,” said Corporate Director, Sian Moore.
“We have to make savings in this area but we want to know what the users think before councillors make a final decision.”
The survey is available at www.richmondshire.gov.uk/survey/leyburn or www.richmondshire.gov.uk/survey/reeth. Paper copies are available at the community offices.
