Results from the first major tenant survey since bringing together three local landlords highlight positive satisfaction trends.
Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes asked 11,000 randomly selected customers this summer what they thought about day-to-day housing services and the quality of their home and estate in the 2015 STAR survey.
More than 3,000 customers took the opportunity to give their views, with almost 89% telling the newly formed landlords, who together make up County Durham Housing Group, that they are satisfied overall with the services provided; a 2.6% increase on the 2013 survey.
Satisfaction with repairs to homes is up by 4%, around 81% of tenants said that they are happy with the overall quality of their home, and 96% of households feel safe in their neighbourhood.
Matthew Foreman, Head of Strategy and Performance at County Durham Housing Group, said: “It’s great to see that satisfaction is on the increase since we last asked people what they thought, and particularly when you consider tenants have seen a lot of change over the last year with the ownership of their home transferring from the council to their new local landlord.
“But of course, our work is not done. As a group we will now come together to see how we can improve services on a local level and better these scores next year, when we survey our remaining 11,000 customers.”
