Holly Walker, a carer at the home, and Paul Salter, the son-in-law of a resident, both took part in the charity bungee jump.

The 160ft high leap raised £480 for a new sensory garden at the home, on Lamb Lane in Ingleby Barwick.

The money will go towards fragrant flowers and interactive garden furniture, which has proven therapeutic for the home’s residents who live with dementia.

Holly said: “I can’t believe I jumped off the Transporter Bridge. It was such an amazing feeling and the craziest thing I have ever done in my life.”

Carol Singleton, manager at Ingleby Care Home, said: “Our thanks go to Holly and Paul for raising funds for our residents. It will have a huge impact through a first rate sensory garden, which they will be able to enjoy for years to come.

“It is inspiring to see both staff and relatives go to such lengths to raise funds for the home. It shows what an amazing and close-knit community we have in Ingleby Barwick.”
