Welcoming the Chancellor’s announcement of an extra £400 million investment in Northern Road and Rail, Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, said:
“This is another example of the Government’s commitment to the Tees Valley and Northern Powerhouse. I’ve launched ambitious plans over the summer that will transform the Tees Valley’s road and rail network and I am sure this funding will go some way to help us achieve our bold vision. Home to the deepest port on the East Coast, the Tees Valley is uniquely placed to deliver the vast benefits in a post-Brexit economy and it is vital we have a strong infrastructure in place for moving both our products and people around.”
Mr Houchen is expected to introduce the Chancellor later today at the party conference.
