A Stockton based financial advice business believes it can benefit the local community with its free estate and retirement planning workshops.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) recently published data stating, the UK life expectancy has once again increased by 13.5 weeks for men and 9.8 weeks for women, with this figure is set to continue to increase.
Further research from the ONS predicts that by 2020, people over the age of 50 will comprise almost a third of the working age population and almost half of the adult population.
Joslin Rhodes has launched a series of intimate workshops to help the public gain a greater knowledge about their personal financial status and understand how to make informed decisions about their retirement and estate plans.
Speaking about the workshops, Karen Parker, operations manager at Joslin Rhodes, said: “We love getting out into the community and helping people understand what can be quite a complex area.
“Through these workshops we are hoping to dispel the common myths surrounding estate planning and help people live the lives they want to through a secure retirement plan.”
The intimate sessions will be held on Thursday 15th October at the Gisborough Hall Hotel in Guisborough. Locals are encouraged to book as soon as possible as spaces are limited.
The estate planning workshop, held from 2pm – 3.30pm, will help people understand how to organise their estate, ensuring that it is protected and distributed in line with their wishes after they have gone. This usually surrounds power of attorney, inheritance tax, wills and care fees.
Later on from 6pm – 7.30pm the retirement planning workshop, which is aimed at people aged 50 and above, will mainly focus on calculating retirement funds. The workshop will also explore state pensions and how this can improve lives before the age of 65, new pension freedoms, tax solutions, life savings and more.
People who attend the workshops also have the chance to win a luxury food hamper worth £60 from Fortnum and Mason. It includes exclusive blends of loose-leaf teas, decadent sea-salted caramel truffles and Fortnum’s preserves.
The events will also consist of a ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ style interactive presentation which will allow each attendee the opportunity to discuss, with a qualified financial planner, their own individual situation.
Following the October workshops, two more have been organised on Thursday 19th November and Wednesday 27thJanuary at Preston Park. To book your free place call 01642 52 5511 or email karen.parker@joslinrhodes.co.uk
